Online consultations from Salamanca
Healthcare in Salamanca while studying in Spain.

If you are in Salamanca for an exchange or university course, your EHIC, course insurance and a private online appointment are different routes. Start with the cover you actually have, then decide whether your concern can safely be discussed remotely or needs local care.
English Doctor offers private video and telephone consultations across Spain. There are no in-person English Doctor appointments in Salamanca.
Which healthcare route applies to you?
Before choosing a video or telephone appointment, check what your health card or course policy actually covers. English Doctor is a separate private service for suitable non-urgent concerns. If you need an examination or the problem cannot wait, use the appropriate local service instead.
Compare your route
The University of Salamanca advises students with a European Health Insurance Card to contact the health centre corresponding to their Salamanca address. Find that centre with SACYL’s address search, then confirm eligibility and appointment steps with the centre. This private online service is billed separately.
University insurance is not identical across programmes. Cursos Internacionales says its included insurance applies for the enrolled course period and may require use of its provider network. Read your own programme and insurer’s current terms before choosing a clinic; do not assume this private booking is covered.
For a suitable non-urgent concern, English Doctor offers a separate €39 video or telephone consultation. It cannot assign a SACYL doctor, perform an examination or guarantee a prescription or document. A clinician may recommend local care after the call.
A student arrives with a card, a policy, or neither
Two students in the same Salamanca course can have different healthcare arrangements. One may be eligible to use an EHIC at a public centre; another may have a course policy that directs them to a particular insurer network. Check which applies to you before paying for a private visit or travelling to a facility. If you use English Doctor, tell the clinician what follow-up you could access locally.
Does my university insurance pay for this online appointment?
Do not assume so. The University of Salamanca says insurance conditions vary by programme; Cursos Internacionales describes coverage tied to the enrolled course and its provider network. English Doctor is a separate private booking. Read your policy and ask your insurer before booking if reimbursement matters. An urgent concern should go to the appropriate local service without waiting for insurance clarification.
Arrive with the useful details.
Keep your Salamanca address, health card or policy details, medicines and relevant medical records close by. If you are using the public route, confirm which centre corresponds to your street. For an online consultation, note when symptoms began and what changed, so the doctor can judge whether a remote assessment is enough.
Find the centre for your Salamanca address.
SACYL’s address search asks for municipality, street and building number. Searching only by city lists centres but cannot identify which one corresponds to your address. The University of Salamanca distinguishes EHIC/TSE access from private insurance in its incoming-student guidance; students should verify the rules of their own cover. For a concern that cannot wait for a routine appointment, SACYL explains its continuing-care route.
Public healthcare access, private insurance and English Doctor appointments are separate routes. Check entitlement and opening details with the relevant provider.
