The essentials
A different way to take semaglutide.
Wegovy tablets contain the same active substance as the Wegovy injection. The route and schedule differ. A clinician decides whether either formulation is appropriate for you.
A tablet taken by mouth, following a specific fasting routine.
The tablet formulation has not been studied in people under 18.
It is dispensed by a pharmacy after a doctor has assessed suitability.
Used with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.
How the tablet is taken
The morning routine matters.
The official Spanish leaflet gives a precise sequence because food, drink and other oral medicines can reduce absorption when taken too soon.
01 / 04
Start after fasting
The leaflet recommends at least eight hours without food before taking the tablet.
This explains the approved instructions. Your doctor and pharmacist will confirm how they apply to you.
The available presentations
Four strengths. One doctor-led plan.
The authorised oral strengths are 1.5 mg, 4 mg, 9 mg and 25 mg. The dose is increased gradually when appropriate. Select a strength to see the official packaging.

Package appearance and pharmacy stock may differ in Spain. Do not change dose without medical advice.
Before treatment
Is a weight consultation worth discussing?
The authorised adult criteria are a BMI of 30 or above, or 27 to under 30 with at least one weight-related condition. A BMI number alone cannot decide whether this medicine is suitable.

A personal medical decision
What your doctor checks.
Your medical history, current medicines, previous weight treatment and plans for pregnancy all matter. Digestive side effects are common, especially during dose increases; other symptoms need individual advice.
The doctor reviews weight-related conditions, medical history and whether further tests or in-person care are needed.
English-speaking care across Spain
Start with a medical conversation.
A weight consultation covers your history, medicines and goals. The doctor can explain whether an oral or injectable option may be appropriate. A prescription is never guaranteed.
Questions
Wegovy tablets, clearly explained.
Are Wegovy tablets available in Spain?
Yes. Wegovy tablets are sold in Spanish pharmacies in 1.5 mg, 4 mg, 9 mg and 25 mg strengths. They need a private prescription and are not funded by the Spanish public health system. Ask a pharmacy about the stock of a specific presentation. See Wegovy prices.
Is the tablet the same as the Wegovy injection?
Both contain semaglutide, but the route and schedule differ: the tablet is taken daily by mouth and the pen is injected weekly. The doses are not directly interchangeable. A doctor should guide any change.
Can I take the tablet with breakfast?
The Spanish leaflet instructs patients to take it after a recommended fast of at least eight hours, with up to 120 ml of water, and then wait at least 30 minutes before food, drink or other oral medicines.
Will I receive a prescription after booking?
Not automatically. The consultation is an assessment. Your doctor may recommend treatment, tests, monitoring or another form of care depending on your circumstances.
Is the medicine included in the €39 fee?
No. The fee is for the weight consultation. Any prescribed medicine is dispensed and paid for separately at a pharmacy.
